Alte Fabrik

In the 1950s, 60s and 70s, it was above all the skill and resourcefulness of Johannes Uebel that enabled the company to survive and further develop under the difficult circumstances of the time. A large number of new developments and patents helped the company to gain recognition, abroad as well as at home, and the development of artificial fur fabric (known in German as Wirkpelz) later led to the new company name: "Wirkteddy".

Smaller, ready-made clothing companies joined the Paul Uebel company, and ready-made clothing items such as pyjamas, dressing gowns and baby garments were also manufactured under the name Paul Uebel. As a further significant activity, the company set up its own printing press for lining fabrics and velvet.

After 1982, Johannes Uebel gave up his director's post at the age of 70, and the company lost its independent status, finally being incorporated into the Aprotext state-owned enterprise.
